We're in this together. Today, March 4, UFCW Local 75 kicked off Kroger bargaining in Region 4 (Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Kentucky) with bargaining for the Toledo Kroger Grocery, Meat, and Non-Food Agreements.
The challenges of today's economy are not lost on Local 75, or on the company, nor is the reality of non-union competition in the Toledo Market. The company acknowledged that members of Local 75 are working harder than ever, and providing the service that sets Kroger apart from its competition. We must work on a creative, collaborative solution to the situation facing the health care and pension funds. And while we may face many challenges, we are committed to working toward a fair agreement that protects livable wages, affordable health care, and preservation of retirement benefits over the life of the contract.
Today, Local 75 submitted our first set of comprehensive proposals derived from surveys, Area Meetings, and member feedback. In an effort to enhance seniority provisions, we continue to discuss combination of contracts.
The next bargaining session is scheduled for March 19.
