COLUMBUS –United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) Locals 75, 880, and 1059 today announced their endorsement of ResponsibleOhio’s proposal to legalize marijuana for medical and personal use by adults 21 years of age and older.
“UFCW members are committed to improving our industries and strengthening our communities. We look forward to working with ResponsibleOhio to create good jobs for hard-working Ohioans and their families,” said Laurie Couch, spokesperson for UFCW locals in Ohio. “When passed, this amendment will strengthen our state’s economy and provide resources for vital public services in our neighborhoods.”
“UFCW members put food on our tables and produce many of the products we depend on every day, ” said ResponsibleOhio Executive Director Ian James. “We’re proud to be working with UFCW to ensure that the new, legal marijuana industry creates family-sustaining, worker-friendly jobs in Ohio communities.”
ResponsibleOhio is working to legalize marijuana for medical and personal use by adults 21 years of age and older. The Ohio Ballot Board approved the group’s Marijuana Legalization Amendment in March. ResponsibleOhio has since collected nearly 250,000 signatures in order to qualify for the November 2015 ballot.
