The UFCW Local 75 bargaining committee and representatives from Chief Supermarkets met for the first time on October 24.
Your bargaining committee gave the company a proposal that guarantees wage increases, maintains quality affordable health care, adds ancillary benefits for part-time employees, and moves participating members to a single pension plan. Our proposal was based on the input that many of you submitted on your priorities for this contract.
Based on the added cost associated with our proposal, the company has requested time to cost out the changes we’ve asked for. According to Chief’s CEO, the company is still analyzing their numbers from last quarter.
We expect the company to respond to our proposal at our next bargaining session on November 7.
This contract will affect about 800 members working in eleven Chief stores in western Ohio. Your bargaining committee appreciates your input and support, and we will continue to work hard to reach the best possible agreement with Chief.
