UFCW Local 75 and Kroger met this week to negotiate the Toledo Kroger Grocery/Non-Food and Meat Agreements. We spent our time working on language issues in the agreements and had good discussion.
Negotiations in Toledo – and the negotiations for Cincinnati Kroger – have been more time consuming and complex than past bargaining. While the ACA provides a number of great benefits – coverage for dependents up to age 26, wellness care at 100% coverage, and no lifetime maximum, among them – these expanded benefits also have a cost. Negotiations for health care coverage must also address requirements of the law and their associated costs.
UFCW Local 75 and Kroger agreed to contract extensions for both contracts until May 31, 2014. Your wages and benefits will not change as a result of the contract extension; the extension includes retroactivity to March 29, 2014.
We are tentatively scheduled to meet again in Toledo on May 27.
